Teams thread versus AI help desk

WebChat vs Tidio: a proven Teams return path or a broader AI help desk?

Tidio has an official Teams integration, but a marketing label is not proof of the exact message path. Agent workspace, eligible plan and pilot evidence decide the fit.

Agent workplace

WebChat documents the return path; Tidio documents an Inbox plus Teams collaboration

WebChat describes the sequence specifically. A website enquiry becomes a post in the responsible Microsoft Teams channel, agents answer in the thread, and that response is returned to the visitor. A configuration backend remains, but daily handling is designed to avoid another agent inbox. The narrower scope can be useful where ownership, cover and everyday communication already run inside Teams.

Tidio defines the Inbox in its panel as the central interface for live conversations and tickets. Unassigned, My Open and Solved organise work, while agents can take over conversations, help colleagues and sort channels through Views. Its Teams page additionally promotes collaboration without switching tools and names instant alerts, context, assignment and coordinated responses. Although the FAQ says chats can be managed directly in Teams, its answer describes updates, context and coordination rather than transmission of a Teams message to the customer. Neither 'notifications only' nor 'fully bidirectional' is therefore a defensible conclusion without a pilot.

Agents are not the main meter: conversations, AI and Flows are

In the annual-billing view, Tidio lists Free at USD 0 per month with 50 billable conversations and up to ten agents. Starter is USD 24.17 per month for 100 billable conversations, Growth starts at USD 49.17 for at least 250, Plus starts at USD 300 per month plus monthly usage, and Premium is quote-based. Because Tidio's Teams page limits that integration to Plus and Premium, the Free or Starter amount must not be presented as the entry price for this Teams use case.

A conversation becomes billable when a human agent replies or starts it proactively. Lyro AI Agent is separate from USD 32.50 per month for 50 monthly AI conversations; Flows starts at USD 24.17 for 2,000 reached visitors. Free includes 50 Lyro conversations once and 100 Flow visitors monthly. WebChat describes per-channel charging with unlimited agents but has no verified amount. A defensible comparison therefore needs a Tidio Plus/Premium quote including human usage, AI, Flows and Teams, plus a written WebChat channel quote. Unknown never means zero.

Procurement and privacy

Four proofs matter more than the feature list

  1. 01

    Record the Teams round trip

Deliver one website enquiry to Tidio, open it in Teams, write a real customer response there and prove where it appears. Log alerts, internal coordination and customer return path separately.

  2. 02

    Measure the meters

Count human conversations, AI conversations and visitors reached by Flows for four weeks. Include peaks, spam, unanswered contacts and growth in a 12- and 36-month model.

  3. 03

    Resolve the DPA qualification

Tidio's FAQ says EEA storage and AWS EU data centres. Its DPA says processing is primarily in the EEA and permits necessary third-country transfers with SCCs. Review the current signed version, subprocessors and enabled flows.

  4. 04

    Accept operations

Test assignment, concurrent responses, escalation, mobile handling, outage path, export, retention and deletion under identical success criteria in both products.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can agents answer Tidio directly from Microsoft Teams?

Tidio markets chat management and collaboration in Teams and lists alerts, context, assignment and coordinated responses. The reviewed page does not explicitly document that a message written in a Teams thread is transmitted to the website visitor. Prove that round trip in a Plus or Premium pilot.

Is Tidio free for ten agents?

Free lists up to ten agents and 50 billable conversations. That does not make the Teams integration free: its official page assigns Teams to Plus and Premium. Volume, AI, Flows and other capabilities have separate limits or prices.

What is a billable Tidio conversation?

The pricing page counts a conversation when a human agent replies or starts it proactively. Unanswered contacts and responses handled solely by Lyro or Flows do not consume the same human-conversation quota.

Does Tidio process all data only inside the EEA?

The FAQ says data is stored in the EEA and on AWS EU data centres. The DPA also permits necessary processing outside the EEA through subprocessors with transfer mechanisms and SCCs. Procurement must assess both documents and actual data flows.
