The Customer Connect rename was not a migration
The archived Microsoft notice explicitly described a naming change with no functional change. Another archived notice documented appointment booking shortly afterwards.
That recent product activity is why the later retirement report must be communicated with dates and evidence status, not treated as if Customer Connect were a separate successor.
Internal communication
Use wording that employees can act on
- Say: the website widget known as Teams Live Chat/Customer Connect is reported to retire.
- Do not say: Microsoft Teams is shutting down.
- Name the affected domains and operational owners.
- Link the tenant Message Center notice when available.
- State where new customer messages will appear after migration.
